In this performance the Dutch Saxophone Octet elaborates the idea that they set up with choreographer Wubkje Kuindersma (Korzo) during the Festival Classique 2018. In CantoXL (2018) the Octet experimented with the effect of movement on the music by spatial placement and shifting of the musicians.
This year the Dutch Saxophone Octet started cooperation with choreography talent Astrid
Boons and composer/sound artist Miguelángel Clerc Parada. Boons and Clerc have already proven before that they are masters of combining spatial and electronic music with conceptual dance. By enabling this golden duo to work together with the acoustic musicians of the Dutch Saxophone Octet we are lifting the experiment from 2018 to the next level. Among other things the Octets plays music of Louis Andriessen and Philip Glass.
This performance is part of the Kweekvijver (Breeding Ground) Coaching Programme. In this programme young talented makers are coached by Festival Classique in perfecting their professional practice.
