The jolly family show of the Carnival of the Animals transforms the Lourdes Church into a real zoo. A colourful procession will pass before you: a lion, a turtle, elephants, a swan and many more. The animals are depicted in short musical fragments played by a live orchestra. The music enlarges the characteristic traits of the animals. A little bit in jest and with humour but often very striking. Do you recognize all the animals?
The musical piece Le carnaval des animaux of the French composer Camille Saint-Saëns will be performed by laureates of the Princess Christina Competition. They are young, talented musicians aged between 16 and 19.
The musical fragments are linked verbally by Max Douw. Douw is a singer, musician, songwriter, and poet. Apart from a career as a solo artist he performed in several shows of Herman van Veen and did special productions with the Residentie Orchestra among others. Festival Classique completes the show of Le carnaval des animaux with a choreography of acrobats of Corpus Acrobatics. This combination makes the show of Carnival of the Animals a delight to see and hear.
