Programme

Festival Classique closes the 2024 edition with a dazzling performance of reggae and jazz with a touch of classical, which will get you going!

For more than 20 years, reggae band Splendid has guaranteed electrifying performances. The final performance at Festival Classique is a home match for the Scheveningen formation. Frontman Pat Smith whips up the audience until they raise the roof. With Sicco van Grieken (guitar), Bart Kerckhoff (bass) and Sven van Wijk (drums) as a rock-solid rhythm section, they form a reinforced concrete foundation. When the two wind players Jort and Bart Goderie bring the melody to life, there is no escape… At Festival Classique, we go one step further by adding multi-keyboardist Sven Figee to the company. Tie your laces, tape your slippers to your feet or go barefoot in the sand: if you don’t dance, you’re out!

Sven Figee is the Lucky Luke of the Hammond: he plays faster than his shadow and it always stands out. This man knows no limits on his instrument. From Bach to blues and from Vivaldi to Metallica. His physical way of making music is a feast for the eyes and ears: steaming, ringing, squeaking, cracking and intoxicating, but also poetic and intensely intimate. In 2006 he founded the band ‘Sven Hammond’ which has since released 9 albums.

Splendid has been active in the national and international pop scene since 2001, with performances at Lowlands, Zwarte Cross, Concert@Sea, Sziget, Paaspop, King’s Day, Trafalgar Square, Reeperbahn Hamburg, Vrijheids-Festival Rotterdam/The Hague/Nijmegen, Fusion Festival Berlin, Parkpop and Live On The Beach. Festival Classique can now also be added to this impressive list. This is a unique concert you don’t want to miss!

Seating or standing?

On the beach, Festival Classique places bleachers with wooden benches. Would you rather stand (and dance)? That’s also possible, in front of the stage, in the sand. Festival Classique offers standing and seating, please choose the appropriate ticket when purchasing.
